A Word About Us
Who We Are And What We Believe
Joining a church can mean many things to many people. Some seek God and community when they feel they have lost their way. Some are searching for a deeper purpose, or looking to connect with their family and cultural identity.
At Restoration Baptist Church, we believe the Church is ultimately about discovering God’s love through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and by joining in His work.
We welcome individuals of all ages and backgrounds to bring the Lord into their lives in every moment—moments of joy, moments of despair, and all the moments in between. We are committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ and are here to share His message with loving patience and kindness.
Doctrinal Statement
The Word of God – We believe both the Old and New Testament Scriptures, as preserved, are the inerrant, infallible, inspired Word of God. They are complete, sufficient, and authoritative for faith and practice in the believer’s relationship with God. (Psalm 119:160; Psalm 12:6–7; Proverbs 30:5; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19–21)
The One True God – The Bible teaches one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are distinct in person yet without division of nature, essence, or being—co-equal in power and glory, each with a distinct ministry in God’s relation to His creation and people. (Genesis 1:1; Exodus 15:11; Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 83:18; Psalm 139:7–9; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; 15:26; Acts 5:3–4; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
The Lord Jesus Christ – Jesus Christ is the second person of the Triune God. He is God in the flesh, the “God-Man.” Begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, He was tempted as we are yet without sin. As the perfect Lamb of God, He freely gave His life to redeem mankind. He died on the cross bearing the sins of the world, rose from the grave conquering death, and ascended into Heaven as our intercessor and advocate before the Father. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18–25; John 1:1,14; 3:16; Galatians 4:4–5; Colossians 2:9; Philippians 2:6–10; 1 Corinthians 15:3–7; Hebrews 4:14–17; 1 John 2:1–2)
The Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit is the third divine person of the Trinity. He instantaneously and supernaturally indwells those who receive Christ as Savior. He regenerates, seals, anoints, guides, teaches, and baptizes believers into the Body of Christ. The Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. (John 3:5; 14:16–17,26; 16:7–14; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12–14; 2 Corinthians 3:6,18; Ephesians 1:13–14; 5:18; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2)
Mankind – Man was created in the image of God but chose to sin and disobey Him. Because of this inherited sin nature, every person is born in sin, separated from God, and under His condemnation with no means of salvation within themselves. (Genesis 1:27; 2:17; 3:6; Psalm 51:5; 58:3; Romans 3:23; 5:12–21; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Galatians 3:11)
Salvation by Grace Through Faith – God demonstrated His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Salvation was purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. Our only obligation is to admit our helplessness in sin, repent, and by faith trust solely in the finished work of Christ’s death and resurrection. Salvation cannot be earned; it is the free gift of God to all who accept it. (Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5; John 1:12; 3:14–16; 10:28–29; Romans 8:1; Philippians 1:6; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 John 2:2; 1 Corinthians 15:1–4; Revelation 22:17)
Eternal Security – Those who trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ are sealed by the Spirit “unto the day of redemption” and are eternally saved. (John 3:8,16; 6:36–40; Galatians 3:24–26; 1 John 5:11–13)
Satan – Satan is a literal, personal being. Created holy, he rebelled against God and was cast from Heaven. He was defeated at Calvary, and though given limited power on earth, his doom is certain. Believers have victory over him through the blood of Christ. (Isaiah 14:14–21; John 16:11; Ephesians 2:1–4; Revelation 20:10)
Heaven and Hell – The Bible teaches the reality of both Heaven and Hell. Heaven is prepared for those who trust in Christ, and Hell is eternal separation from God for those who reject Him. (John 14:1–6; Matthew 25:31–34,41,46; Luke 16:19–31; Revelation 20:11–15)
The Local Church, Baptism, and Communion – The Bible teaches that local churches are made up of baptized believers who assemble to worship in spirit and truth, grow in unity, and carry out the Great Commission. Baptism is by immersion, and the Lord’s Supper is to be observed in remembrance of Him. (Acts 2:38; Acts 16:30–33; 1 Corinthians 11:23–32; 12:13; Ephesians 1:22–23; 4:11–15; Galatians 1:22)
Missions – The local church is commanded to actively support and send the Gospel message to the nations, taking part in fulfilling the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19–20)
Last Things – God, in His own time and way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. The Bible teaches the personal and imminent return of Jesus Christ: first, the Rapture of the saints; then a seven-year tribulation; then His Second Coming to reign on earth for 1,000 years. (Matthew 24:44; John 14:1–3; 1 Corinthians 15:51–57; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18)
